Promising child artistes, whether it be on the big or small screen have always found special favour with the audiences. Coming in the line of child artistes who have touched a chord with the viewers is Venkitesh R who plays pivotal characters in the mythological serial ‘Sree Guruvayoorappan,’ on Surya TV. In a double role as Krishnan and Kannanunny, the serial has brought Venkitesh many fans.

Seasoned actor

Venkitesh, who is no stranger to the small screen, feels that by far playing the part of Krishnan has been the easiest for him. “The role calls for facial expressions. I do as the director tells me,” says Venkitesh with his inimitable smile that has endeared him to the audiences. Venkitesh made his debut while in his third standard in the serial, ‘Kadamattathu Kaththanar’ (as Allen Nicholas, Asianet). Thereupon he has played roles in ‘Babajan’ (as Achchuvava, Surya TV), ‘Kadalinakkare’ (as Manu, Asianet) and in ‘Swamy Ayyappan’ (as Kannan, Asianet). Besides acting, he also does advertisements, stage shows and comperes.

Ask this student of class six at Christ Nagar school in the city about his career plans and Venkitesh shares a smile with his mother K.G.Hemalatha, who laughs, “He first wanted to be the Secretary General of the United Nations, then the President of India and then a Naval Officer…”.

On a more serious note, the child adds, “I have deferred my career plans till after my twelfth standard.”

For the time being, he has his hands full with many interests and hobbies that includes playing the keyboard and the violin, cycling, cinematic dancing, playing cricket and reading books.

On whether he has aspirations for the big screen, Venkitesh says he was not able to take up the offers made earlier as the first priority has always been studies.
