Shah Rukh Khan returns to the small screen

Smart choice Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan is returning to the small screen sooner than expected. No, not with Kaun Banega Crorepati. In an attempt to consolidate its position in the general entertainment category, Star Plus is coming up with the Hindi version of popular Amercian format Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader ? The series will be produced by Synergy Adlabs.

On air in 50 countries

Confirming the development, Siddharth Basu of Synergy says, “We have bought the rights to produce the Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader in India. It is already on air in around 50 countries. Shah Rukh has agreed to host the show. The working title is Bade Hue To Kya Hua? Rest of the announcements will be made shortly.”

Siddharth, who also produced KBC, says he hopes the format will suit Indian tastes. For the uninitiated, in Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?, an adult participant is asked school-level questions. And, if he fails, he has to leave the show accepting ‘I am not smarter than a fifth grader’ to the camera. Here the lifelines come in the form of classmates which are five students of fifth standard. Keertan Adyantha, General Manager, Star Plus says, “Star Plus has always pioneered fabulous content on television, and this is one such initiative.” According to Siddharth, after this development, whether Shah Rukh will return for a new season of KBC has become an open question.
