SRK returns to the small screen with the Indian version of “Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader”

Smart choice Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan is returning to the small screen sooner than expected. No, not with Kaun Banega Crorepati. Star Plus is coming up with the Hindi version of the popular American game show Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader. The series will be produced by Synergy Adlabs.

Confirming the development, Siddharth Basu of Synergy says, “We have bought the rights to produce the Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader in India. It was the most popular game show on television last year and is already on air in around 50 countries. Shah Rukh has agreed to host the show. For the time being, the working title is Bade Hue To Kya Hua.

Siddharth, who also produced KBC, says, he hopes the format will suit Indian tastes. For the uninitiated, in Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader, an adult participant is asked school-level questions. And if he fails, he has to leave the show, saying ‘I am not smarter than a fifth grader’ in front of the camera. In the U.K., it is called Are you smarter than a 10-year-old. Here, the lifelines come in the form of five students of fifth standard. The participant can choose one of them at the beginning of the show.

A.K.
