Sealing on screen

‘Jugaad – the fact of life’ was launched recently

When hope sinks, ‘managing’ skills work. Jugad is Hindi slang for this ‘management expertise’. This is what director Anand Kumar focuses on in his forthcoming film Jugaad- the fact of life. The film was launched in New Delhi recently.

Based on the sealing drive undertaken by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi last year, Kumar, who directed Delhii Heights, says his film is based on a real life story.

The cast includes Manoj Bajpai, Hrishitaa Bhatt, Vijay Raaz and Sanjay Mishra. The music is composed by Sachin Gupta and lyrics are written by Sameer.

Talking about the plot of the film, Kumar says, “The MCD shuts down an advertising agency under the sealing drive. This leaves the CEO of the company, played by Manoj Bajpai, and his team struggling to save their future. The CEO tries his best to influence the MCD but fails. The film reflects the amount of patience and ‘jugaad’ that is needed to re-establish the agency from scratch.”

Serious role

Manoj says, “The movie is a humorous take on whatever happened during the sealing drive and after that. It also talks about human relationships — that is, during the crisis the loved-ones abandon you. Although the truth is reflected through funny situations, my role is serious.”

Hrishita says, “I am playing the protagonist’s wife. It’s about how a wife supports her husband and the pressure she faces during the crisis. This is my first such role.” Says Sandeep Kapur, the producer, “I experienced these situations in real life. So, it wasn’t difficult for me to explain the situations to Manoj.”
