Like Deepavali

Tamil New Year Day celebrated on the first day of Tamil month of Chithirai has now been changed to the first day of Thai by the Tamil Nadu Government. Now, the Tamil year will start from Thai and end with Margazhi. In North India, Deepavali day is celebrated as the first day of the New Year and even new accounts are opened on this day with great joy. Likewise, among the various festivals of Tamil Nadu, the most important one is the Pongal festival. Hereafter, it will also be the New Year Day.
