Do's and don'ts
For people who have contacted conjunctivitis, a visit to the doctor is a must.
To avoid spreading infection, take these simple steps:
l Disinfect surfaces such as doorknobs and counters with diluted bleach solution
l Don’t swim (some bacteria can be spread in the water)
l Avoid touching the face
l Wash hands frequently
l Don’t share towels or washcloths
l Do not reuse handkerchiefs (using a tissue is best)
l Avoid shaking hands
Although there is no cure for viral conjunctivitis, symptomatic relief may be achieved with cool compresses and artificial tears. Viral conjunctivitis usually resolves within three weeks. However in worst cases it may take over a month.
