New A4 by year-end

German luxury manufacturer Audi has commenced production at Volkswagen Group company Skoda’s facility at Aurangabad. In fact, Audi has already delivered the first batch of its locally-assembled A6 saloons to customers.

The company will also begin assembling the new A4 saloon in India by the end of 2008. “Starting our own production there is the best way to adequately serve such a promising growth market like India,” said Rupert Stadler, chairman of the Board of Management of parent company Audi Ag.

By 2015, Audi expects to have sold more than 2,000 A6 saloons in India, and in the same year the company is looking to achieve sales of 1.5 million units globally.
