Contemporary artist Remi Boinot
Alliance Française de Trivandrum in association with the French Embassy in India and Department of Museums and Zoos will organise a multimedia exhibition titled ‘ME’ by the French artist Rémi Boinot from February 26 to 28 at the
Museum Auditorium. The exhibition will be open to all from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
A contemporary artist from France, Rémi Boinot’s basic strength is painting. He also uses other media like video, photography, sound, writing and stage setting to convey the exchanges done with various cultures during his travels. Following his first sojourn in the city in 2005, Rémi Boinot is back on a scholarship programme – Artist-in-Residence – instituted by the French Embassy in India.
To the people
His new video installation is dedicated to the people of the city as well as of those seen in the traditional stage arts and dance forms of Kerala.
A form of portrait, the project is composed in two parts using the most expressive elements of human figure that is the mouth in one part and the eyes in the other part. There are two films: one is on mouths while the other deals with the eyes. Both the videos will fuse the navarasas of Kathakali with the eyes and mouths of ordinary people.
