Hair and happening

Studies have found that hair is the best reflection of an individual’s personality and mood

LOOK GREAT, FEEL GOOD With well cut and styled tresses

Hair plays a crucial role in every girl’s life; it makes them feel complete and confident. According to the survey, most girls throughout the world – a whopping 97 per cent, in fact – admit that how their hair looks affects how they feel about themselves.

Over two-thirds of all girls surveyed (66 per cent in India) felt that hair is the best reflection of their personality – the physical expression of who they are.

“Naturally, when my hair does not look good, I feel inferior, anxious and afraid of facing the world. My hair gives me a major complex at such times,” says Navita Gupta, a young working executive.

Bad hair

Bad hair can give you a complex and prevent you from presenting a confident face to the world. Even hair experts feel there is an intimate connection between hair and confidence levels. Jawed Habib, for instance, says, “Bad hair can make you lose confidence and peace of mind. It is the easiest way to get a complex. When you are unhappy with your hair, you are not truly yourself. Therefore, it’s important to get your hair right, in order to avoid developing a complex about your looks.”

Dr. Ramprakash Jha, a psychologist explains, “In today’s competitive world, it is easy to develop a complex about anything and everything. Hair affects the way you feel about yourself. And when you are unhappy about it, you want to hide yourself from the world. Therefore, don’t let your hair make you feel anxious, afraid, sad and negative. Find a remedy that will infuse confidence and give you the power to forge ahead without a complex.”

Asserting that ‘Life is ruled by hair’, Bollywood actor and Sunsilk brand ambassador, Priyanka Chopra says, “Hair plays a crucial role in our life. You can use it to transform the way you look and feel. It can also aid you to make a fashion statement. However, if you don’t pay much attention to your hair, you will end up getting a complex.”

Break-ups

Bad hair days are common in the lives of the fairer sex! Such days can have a catastrophic impact on the lives of girls. If you don’t believe this, sample the findings of the recent survey conducted by a hair care brand…

Did you know that 22 per cent of Indian girls, as compared to 32 per cent of their global counterparts are most likely to ruin their date on a bad hair day? And many of them could actually break-up with their partners on such days!

The survey found that on bad hair days, 33 per cent of Indian girls admitted that they would prefer to stay at home!

Is there a connection between hair and flirting? Well, research seems to suggest that nine out of ten girls admit to flirting more when their hair looks good.

“I call it high-heeled behaviour. When a girls wears heels she walks differently, stands differently and behaves more confidently, and it’s the same when a girl feels her hair looks great – she acts differently, flirts and is in ‘top form’,” says Andrew Barton, U.K. hair stylist.

In the boardroom

Just before you walk into the boardroom for an important meeting, it is best to check whether your hair is properly set or not.

Girls across the world insist that they check their hair before an important event such as a meeting or a date.

With 40 per cent of girls, hair is rated above make-up, clothes and shoes.

Ayesha Arora, a young advertising executive, says, “Just brushing my hair before an important event makes me feel confident. It has been said that when you look good, you feel confident.”

Says Priyanka Chopra, “Every meeting is important, whether it is catching up with old friends or meeting a client for discussions or for that matter going for a date. For every girl, it is important to be in the right frame of mind to leave a lasting impression. It has been said time and again that how you look at yourself is how the world looks at you.”
