In memory of Basheer

The birth centenary of Basheer will be commemorated from Feb 25-28


A Basheer Cultural Festival to commemorate the birth centenary of the legendary writer Vaikom Muhammed Basheer will be held under the joint auspices of the Ernakulam District Library Council and Centre for Heritage Environment and Development, Kochi Corporation at the Ernakulam Town Hall from February 25-28.

Screening of films like ‘Basheer The Man,’ ‘Bhargavi Nilayam,’ will be held, and plays by Basheer like ‘Mucheetikalikarante Makal,’ ‘Mathilukal,’ ‘Imminibalya Onnu,’ and ‘Akasha Mittayi,’ will be staged on these days.

Lectures by writers and scholars on various facets of Basheer and an exhibition that will showcase the works of the writer, and photographs are the other events slated.
