Sheer and simple

T. KRITHIKA REDDY

Designer Nisha Jamvwal’s haute notes for the season

FOR MEN Minimal spells chic for men. This season is not about embroidery and embellishment. It’s about linen, cotton and other natural fabrics that make understated style statements. Constructed, clean and severe, are the key words this season. The look is formal and Wall Street-inspired. And yes, charcoal is a haute hue. If you want to go informal, team slim-fit jeans that fold up at the ankle with slim, long silhouettes. You could also try short, boxy jackets and easy shouldered garments for a cool look. By the way, geometric patterns are in – so are shirts in solid colours.

FOR WOMEN I believe this season is about clothes with personality. Now, you can add your own individualistic touch to garments. Clothes, like the modern woman is getting versatile. So this season, be prepared for cross-over garments that can take you seamlessly from work to an evening out. Sheer and silky fabrics, taffeta, crepe, satin and wispy cottons are good for the coming months. Flowing silhouettes that play up femininity are in. The clothes are getting layered and sinuous. In all, a girl-meets-woman look.
