The stunning car by Rolls-Royce to be displayed at the motor show

The stunning 101EX ‘experimental car’ by Rolls-Royce, shown for the first time in 2006, has been put into production and will be displayed at the Geneva Motor Show next month (4 to 16 March). The Phantom Coupé or RR3, as it is popula
rly known, will round off the Phantom range which includes the Phantom, Phantom EWB and the Drophead Coupé.
The Phantom Coupé is based on a shortened Phantom platform; the wheelbase measures 250mm less, and features two rear-hinged coach doors, like the Drophead. To reduce weight, most of the car’s construction features aluminium, save for the bonnet, A-pillar and the rear picnic boot, which are steel. Rolls-Royce’s engineering department was keen to ensure this car would be a more involving drive, and in line with this thinking, the car features slightly retuned suspension with stiffer springs and a thicker rear anti-roll bar. There is also a sport function, which, when activated, makes the transmission hold on to gears longer and also quickens the shifts. Throttle response has been sharpened too.
The Coupé is expected to cost 20 percent less than the traditional Phantom, and will retail for approximately Rs. 3 crore in India.
