Big fight

Vijay TV’s “Neeya? Naana?” (Sunday, 9 p.m.), a talk show focussing on socially relevant topics, is becoming increasingly popular. The show averaged a channel share of 18 per cent in the last five weeks as per the latest TAM report. This augurs well for those interested in serious television, as it proves there is an audience for issue-based shows. “Neeya? Naana?”, hosted and moderated by Gopinath, has got sections of society debating a topic that affects them most — for instance, the issue of younger mom versus younger daughter; or those who believe in luck versus those who do not. Apart from the general pota-poti (big fight), celebrity visits, public polls and competitions make the show interesting. It has been running successfully for over two years and, recently, a popular Tamil magazine chose “Neeya Naana” as the best talk show for the year 2007. Says K.Sriram, head, Vijay TV: “In the forthcoming episodes, we will take up more interesting topics and invite experts from the respective fields which would make the talk show not only entertaining but informative as well.”
