Cuddalore-based P. Saravanan specialises in landscapes

Cuddalore’s varied landscape — vast expanse of fields and swaying crops and the seashore dotted with boats and fishermen — has a lot to offer to the discerning viewers and artists.
Artist P.Saravanan of Semmandalam has drawn inspiration from these sights for his works. From a small slushy pond with blooming lotus to a solitary tree that provides shelter to men and birds or the quiet enchanting sea, .
Saravanan recreates what he sees, to the closest details.
He chooses mostly oil paint and acrylic medium for his paintings. Says the artist, “After the advent of the flex boards, the commercial artists have lost their livelihood.” While some of them have shifted to other professions, there are still some who prefer to wield the brush. And he belongs to the latter category.
For him, each individual is an artist and genuine art should reflect the reality. The honesty of expression and vitality in portrayal has helped Saravanan to exhibit his paintings and earn accolades for his works.
