Bangalore lass Tina Desai will be part of a live movie

DEBUT Tina Desai plays Simran in love with Rahul
You’ve seen her as a pretty face with a mop of curly locks on many TV ads and now Bangalore’s own Tina Desai, all of 23, new in Mumbai and bubbling with enthusiasm and more than a handful of modelling assignments and music videos, is goin
g to be part of a historic film.
“Andaz Apana Very Hatke” is Channel V’s attempt at making a “live” movie, the fastest produced Bollywood flick ever. They promise to deliver a movie with no retakes, cuts and of course, no guarantees.
Tina has been busy rehearsing her script for the film the past few days and is confident they’ll have it in place when they finally shoot tomorrow. By night, the film will be aired on TV. Tina was earlier part of Channel V’s “Get Gorgeous” reality show. “I was eliminated in the finals but I got the contract with Elite (modelling agency) anyway! I enjoyed the contest but I didn’t enjoy the reality bit,” she confesses. “We were awake long hours — from 5 a.m. to 1.30 and 2 p.m. sometimes,” she laughs it off.
But despite her not-so-happy brush with the reality show, she auditioned for this film. “This isn’t so much reality… it’s rehearsing for a live movie. It’s different from a contest in that it’s not competitive. I play a character called Simran who falls in love with a character called Rahul…” Ooops! Sounds like yet another Yash Raj plot. And that’s what Channel V brashly promises too — the film stars Neha Dhupia, and an “international celebrity”, it has all the ingredients of a typical Bollywood film — a zaalim baap, a gareeb hero, a bheegi bheegi heroine, and a kameena villan.
“I’m expecting D-day to be chaotic because we will be shooting in front of an audience and I’ve never done that before. We’ve got the script… we just have to get it perfect! No one can foresee what will actually happen. Nothing like this has been attempted by anybody, but you don’t expect Channel V to do anything less.”
Tina had just completed her BBM at the National Institute of Management in Bangalore and had been working on ramp shows with Prasad Bidappa, Rahul Dev Shetty and others, when she took off for the Get Gorgeous show. And within 15 days of completing the show she moved to Mumbai, because that’s where all the real work was. In her third year in college, she suddenly developed an interest in modelling and she didn’t any opposition from the parents as they convinced her to have a go at modelling. Having completed her 10th grade in Baldwin’s, she did her plus-two at Bishop Cotton’s. She’s just completed shooting for a music video “Ye kahaan aagaye hum” for KK that will premiere in March.
The film premieres on Channel V tomorrow at 9 p.m.
