Now, gear up for a live Bollywood film

Creative team Cast and crew members working in full swing
Andaz Apna Very Hatke, says Channel V. In a constant bid to come up with new formats, the music channel is about to air its first live Bollywood flick. Titled Andaz Apna Very Hatke, the 20-minute film will be shot and aired live this Sunday. The film, pegged to be shot without cuts and retakes, stars actress Neha Dhupia along with a host of others who’ve been finalised through a talent hunt.
“The idea struck us after the celebration of the channel’s 13th birthday when we hired youngsters to shoot the entire proceedings; we thought of having a film shot in a live format. In the past we have received a good response from our reality shows like Popstars and Get Gorgeous. Even blogumentaries like My India Report and the Big [v] concert were well received by the youngsters. Now, our creative team scripted this 20-minute film,” explains Amar K. Deb, head honcho of the channel.
Only one cut
Since the film will be shot without cuts and retakes, the cast and crew is now on a rehearsal mode.
“The actors have to memorise the script. Quite a few rehearsals were needed to ensure a systematic flow of events. A crew of 20 cameramen and 50 cameras will be shooting this project. Everyone needs to work in tandem to avoid goof ups. A normal film can have any number of cuts and retakes. Here there is only one ‘action’ and one ‘cut’,” he adds.
The film fits the bill of a commercial mainstream Bollywood project. Neha Dhupia will have a handsome hero for company along with a tyrant and conniving father. The cast and crew, he says, has its fingers crossed since the film will be aired live on television on March 2, 9 p.m. “Live is a dangerous word since anything can happen; it all depends on the spontaneity of the actors; the whole film, especially the finale, is a challenge for us,” says Deb.
