My kind of place -- Karthik

Musical trip

Discovering a place is as exhilarating as getting to know the nuances of music. And like every tune or musical style is beautiful in its own way, so it is with cities, towns and villages around the globe. Though not a keen traveler, my profession has kept me on the move. And when you connect with people and places through music, it’s truly a different experience. Traveling could be as relaxing as singing.

So many to choose

Durban is a great favourite but I cannot do without mentioning Australia, San Francisco, Singapore, Shimla and Kodaikanal. About Durban. I am totally in awe of this vibrant port city of South Africa. It’s got a multi-cultural character that is quite fascinating.

Also, there are amazingly beautiful beaches with several fun and recreational facilities that are thronged through the year by tourists. What’s more, this modern city is not just about restaurants, pubs and boutique, there’s enough greenery to keep you cool.

I was in San Francisco last September and spent some good time with my friends staying there. The view of the Pacific Ocean from the landmark Golden Gate Bridge could turn you a poet. And that drive on the Great Ocean Road in Australia.

I just went wow, wow and click, click....The more than 250 km long smooth coastal drive offers some breathtaking views of rock formations, forests, the famous twelve apostles and laidback maritime villages.

Within India

India has gorgeous destinations too. Shimla is one such. Closer home, it’s Kodaikanal.

Opens up the mind

Earlier I never seriously thought about vacations. Now I know it’s not just fun but a sure-fire remedy for tired 24/7 souls.
