Going back in time

The trailer of director Roland Emmerich’s (“Independence Day”, “The Day After Tomorrow”) “10,000 BC” has aroused great expectations among the trade in Tamil Nadu. It’s a prehistoric tale that follows a young hunter’s journey through uncharted territory to secure the future of his tribe in a mythical age of prophesies and gods, when spirits rule the land and mighty mammoths shake the earth. Last year, a similar film, Mel Gibson’s “Apocalypto” was a huge hit because of its awesome special effects. As Emmerich says in the publicity brochure for the film: “The subject matter of ‘10,000 BC’ is early man; you have the opportunity to tell a heroic story in which one character has to do what’s almost impossible. I wanted to make a movie that would allow audiences to fall into this other world that looks and feels like nothing they have ever seen.”
