My kind of Place -- Robin Singh
On a different pitch
Even if you are a hardcore travel buff being a jet-setter could leave you longing for home and leisure. But the flip side of being in a field that virtually keeps you on your toes is letting the traveller or the explorer in you take over when you are touring cities across the globe. It’s nice when you are able to snatch some moments away from the ground and pavilion to know people and places. It’s fascinating to walk back and forth in time admiring monuments, museums, malls and modern restaurants.
Encounter with arts
One of my most memorable visits was to Edinburgh in Scotland. What a feast the famous month-long (August) Edinburgh Art festival. It opened my eyes and mind to visual arts. You are sure to return well-informed about fine arts and learn to appreciate it too. The festival is supposed to be largest in the world. Arranged by several institutions and galleries, events and exhibitions take over the entire city.
Down Under
I feel upbeat. Have visited Australia several times when as a player and was there for past three months as bowling coach of Team India. Sydney is superb in every way. The city moves with times without losing touch with the past. There is so much to do and see and yet you can snatch some moments of solitude. Melbourne is another great favourite.
In India
It has to be the gorgeous backwaters of Kerala.
Travel
Makes you open-minded and accept changes. You learn to adjust to varied lifestyles, weather, cultures…to experience the joy of knowing the world better.
