Sonu’s Punjabi special
It is a trademark Sonu Nigam style to start a trend. It is not about his new album though. The versatile singer has just composed and sung a single track exclusively for Big FM. “Punjabi Please” is a pulsating hip hop and club number, wit
h thumping beats and a great background score. This is the first time that an artiste and a radio channel are to launch a ‘single’ that will be aired on FM.
What made Sonu agree to do an individual song? “Not everyone can buy a CD, while it is always easy to listen to a song on FM. The lyrics too are not typical Punjabi ones but something everyone can understand. You never know, this might become a trendsetter and people will probably start taking out single tracks frequently,” says the singer.
The channel, which holds exclusive rights of song play-outs including digital rights and physical unit sales, will soon make a video to promote the song.
As part of this joint venture, Big FM is organising an interactive contest, ‘Sing with Sonu’, wherein five lucky singers from across the country will get an opportunity to sing with Sonu Nigam live during a five-city tour comprising Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata and Chandigarh.
