On a new stage

For the first time Mohanlal performed in a play that was recently staged at the packed Lulu auditorium in Thrissur. Like great Hollywood stars of yesteryear, Richard Burton and Sir Lawrence Oliver, Mohanlal too is turning to theatre after becoming a superstar. He dons the role of Bheema in the full length play titled “Chayamukhi”. The play is produced by actor Mukesh’s Kalidasa Visual Magic, who plays the demon king Keechaka. Up-and-coming actor Aparna Nair is Panchali. Says Mohanlal, “The play is a reflection of contemporary life. The aim is to come out with plays that are good, with a simple storyline and entertaining. I want to draw people to this once vibrant medium.”
