Hitting coast

The Bud Cup truck is on a five-week road show across various states

PROMO The tour is to create awareness about the upcoming tourney

It seemed as if the Old Trafford was uprooted, put on a truck and brought to Mangalore. That was the illusion created when the Budweiser road show hit the city earlier this week. The show was a promo for the upcoming six vs. six football tournament f or the Budweiser Cup, the finals of which is scheduled to be held in Old Trafford stadium in the United Kingdom.

Every year 2,500 million people watch Manchester United play. About 1.9 million experience the incredible atmosphere inside the “Theatre of Dreams”. But less than 500 people actually realise the dream of playing on the famous pitch. And that is the dream Budweiser Cup is promising to make real for people of the country.

Hundreds gathered as the road show unfolded amidst much fanfare – cheerleaders, on-the-spot contests and booming football anthems – the event left the people who had gathered gaping.

After all it is not everyday that some thing of this magnitude happens in laidback Mangalore.

The Bud Cup truck is on a five-week road show across Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The Objective? To create awareness about the upcoming tourney and how to register for it as well as to impart some quality entertainment along the way.

Football enthusiasts can log on to www.livethedream.in. or hop into select bars and retailers for registrations. About 24 teams will be selected from each of the states through a lucky draw. This will be followed by regional eliminations in early April, after which four regional winners will travel to Mumbai for the National finals. The winning team will represent India and play against 17 other countries at Old Trafford in Manchester in May.
