teacher and writer Alain Mabanckou

Alliance Française de Trivandrum in association with the Embassy of France in India and Department of English, Kerala University, will organise a meeting with Francophone writer Alain Mabanckou at Institute of English, University of Kerala, on March 17, 11 a.m.,

Alain Mabanckou is one of the most fêted of contemporary Francophone writers. He was born in Congo-Brazzaville in 1966.

The author of six volumes of poetry and six novels, Mabanckou is a professor at University of California, Los Angeles, where he teaches francophone African literature.

He won the prestigious Prix Renaudot for his novel ‘Mémoire de Porc-épic’ (Memoirs of a Porcupine, 2006). Mabanckou is revered in the French-speaking world for celebrating African life and politics in a humorous and tragic way.
