Chic From Varun Bahl’s show
Designer Varun Bahl’s show on Day 2 was said to be sublime. It also played the right tunes as far as the buyers were concerned. Caught in the buzz at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, Varun says rave comments somehow never reach him.
What was your Autumn/Winter collection about?
The inspiration for the collection is India 2008. It was about the country as it is today and how the whole world is looking at India now. I have used a range of fabrics like velvet and Cashmere silk in the collection.
How was the latest collection for the WIFW different?
It showed me slightly shifting away from what I am known for. The collection was a little less feminine. It reflects the process of my evolution.
On Pragati Maidan as the venue
The venue brings everything under one roof and importantly, settles the parking problem, which was an issue when the event was held in hotels. I don’t think it has any negatives. It is perfect and can only get better.

Any other show you found impressive at the WIFW?
I don’t go for other shows. Of course, there are a lot of designers whom I like.
What are we going to see from you after the WIFW?
Actually, I am pretty clueless. But there are couple of flagship stores that are going to come up in Delhi.
