A human rights violation

Though physical and emotional abuse of children is rampant in our culture, child sex abuse carries more stigma. It is a violation of the basic human right of the child and more so when the offender is the parent who is looked upon as the natural guardian. In this context, by the time the case appears in court, the victim is re-victimised many times. Our focus should be on who questions the child and how the child should be questioned. Often the family's monetary situation suffers because the mother is a daily wage earner who has to traverse the courts many times, the child is away from school and there is no secrecy to the reason. Of the many who are abused, some are resilient, some become offenders themselves while others become precocious. The campaign against CSA should be mounted on a massive scale and funds generated to help these victims.
