The ArtSeek festival brings together different musical forms at The Music Academy on March 21
|
The first ArtSeek Music Festival, an effort to bring different musical forms on one platform, will be held on March 21 (6 p.m.) at The Music Academy. ArtSeek, founded by Darbuka Siva, plans to make the festival an annual event.
The event features diverse bands ranging from folk to experimental to world music. “Yodhakaa”, an experimental outfit led by Siva, will be one of them. The band can whip up a cocktail of music – jazz, blues, Nigerian street drumming, Algerian rai, Cuban son, Bahian samba-cancsao, Carnatic, Senegal’s wolof and more.
Other performances for the evening include The Raghu Dixit Project, an Indo-world-folk-rock band (which will be performing for the first time in Chennai), performances by guitarist Neil Mukherjee (a master of flamenco), Vedanth (contemporary folk) and Route 10, a contemporary-classical band.
The show is organised in aid of the Niveditha Charitable Trust. Tickets priced at Rs. 200 and Rs.100 are available at Landmark outlets, Musee Musicals, Pro Music and at the venue. For online tickets log on to www.hummaa.com.
