Dream Girl gets real

Hema Malini on her forthcoming performance which is issue-based

What’s Hema Malini doing these days? In a recent interview, the Dream Girl of Bollywood and Bharatanatyam dancer spoke enthusiastically about about her upcoming performance. “It is based on the theme of female foeticide,” she said. She will present it with her daughters, Esha and Aahana Deol. It will be depicted in an innovative way on stage.

“The abhiman of a woman will be strongly portrayed in the drama,” said Hema, whose Odissi and Bharatanatyam performances with her daughters draw enthusiastic crowds. The music for the short dance ballet, said Hema, is composed by Ravindra Jain, who has also written the lyrics.

Asked for tips on well-being for aspiring dancers, she said, “As a classical dancer I avoid wearing high heels, and advise young dancers to do the same.” As for her fitness mantra, the gorgeous actor said, “Basic yoga including pranayam — anulom-vilom — bending exercises and workouts are very important to keep a person healthy,” adding she practises them everyday. Being a vegetarian, Hema said, “Milk products such as curd, ghee are inseparable from my diet.
