Despite the overriding threat of rain, two college food festivals gave visitors a chance to taste an array of dishes

Utterly butterly declicious At Akshaya and Hi Feast
The intermittent drizzle stopped in time to the delight of visitors to ‘Akshaya’ the annual food carnival organized by the Department of Catering Science and Hotel Management, at CMS College of Science and Commerce.
There were 12 stalls waiting with an array of delicacies with interesting names, all prepared in front of the guests. There were more than 47 items on offer.
The Mughalai counter selling non-vegetarian biriyani was a big hit as it was constantly crowded. elsewhere varieties of rotis and naans were being turned out of the clay oven to be served with tasty side dishes at the stall called ‘From the griddle’.
Cuisine corner
The ‘fishing net’ had fish lovers trying out Kappa meen curry and mackerel fry, among other sea food specialities.
Vegetarians had ‘Dosa Point’ for a wide choice. The Chinese stall, with its woks all full of appetising food offered both vegetarian and non-vegetarian goodies.
‘Dessert Corner’ offered fruit trifle and chocolate mousse to round up the meal. Some of the available dishes could be packed and taken home to enjoy too.
The fireworks and cultural programmes added to the carnival atmosphere.
A mint delight welcome-drink greeted visitors at the college ground of Hindustan College of Arts and Science where the Department of Catering and Hotel Management had organised Hi Feast, a food festival.
Salads and soups
Salads, soups, rice dishes, rotis, vegetarian and non-vegetarian curries and a range of sweet dishes were tastefully arranged. Apart from the regular fare there were innovations from the students too. The Hi Feast Avathar, Beef Cuppa, Salad East’O Feast, and Tulsi Saru were some of their creations.
Student chefs
Apart from the food, the vegetable and fruit carving, and the ice and butter sculptures by students, were appreciated. Music, dance, a game stall for children and a spectacular fire display entertained visitors.
