Lights out

People will unite globally and switch off lights for Earth Hour

Sify Technologies, in association with WWF and Earth Hour, will campaign in four Indian cities this year and encourage businesses, communities and individuals to turn off the lights for an hour to deliver a powerful message about the need for action on global warming.

Earth Hour is the highlight of a major campaign to encourage people to cut their emissions on an ongoing basis. It is about simple changes that will collectively make a difference — from businesses turning off their lights when their offices are empty, to households turning off appliances rather than leaving them on standby. This year, at 8 p.m. on March 29 millions of people, globally will unite and switch off for Earth Hour.

Sify has lined up a host of green activities through its iways, websites and other initiatives, targeting the public such as street plays in schools/public locations, distribution of leaflets at 250 locations in four metros and a tie-up with local radio stations for a “Batti Bandh Campaign”.
