Four Frames

Suriya is being paired for the first time with Tamanna in AVM's new film "Ayan", directed by cinematographer K.V. Anand.

Suriya plays a guy who makes others laugh. The film is a romantic comedy with lots of action. Tamanna plays a bubbly girl.

Harris Jayaraj provides the music. "I've engaged M.S. Prabhu as the cameraman as I want to concentrate on direction," says

Anand. Suriya is all praise for Anand and Subha's script, and said it was Anand who took his first still photo and showed it to

Mani Ratnam who produced "Nerukku Ner, directed by Vasanth. The film has started rolling in the AVM studio.

Fantastic CG work

Korean film “Dragon Wars: D-War” and its Tamil dubbed version “Rudranagam” that released on Friday has become the hottest film in the trade. Based on the 5,000-year old Korean legend, unknown creatures return and devastate the planet. The highlight of this action movie is the terrific CG work of a city being devastated by “Godzilla”-like dragons spitting fire and “Anaconda”-type snakes. It is strictly a B-grade action film that should do bumper business in the B and C centres in Tamil Nadu.

Dileep’s new look

Dileep and his favourite director Lal Jose are back with their big summer release in Malayalam titled “Mulla”. Dileep had tonsured his head for the role of a petty thief who operates on trains as a tea vendor and lives in a criminal’s colony by the railway track.

Meera Nandan, a former anchor on a Malayalam television channel, plays the heroine, who tries to reform the criminal, against all odds.

Vidyasagar provides the music. Says Dileep: “It is circumstances that make one a criminal. I sport a new look in the film and hardly speak, something unusual for me in my films.”

The brothers are back

Actor Jayam Ravi and his director brother Raja had a hat-trick of hits over the years with “Jayam”, “M. Kumaran, Son of Mahalakshmi” and “Something Something”. The combo is back this summer for the fourth time with “Santosh Subramaniyan”, again a remake, based on the Telugu super hit “Bommarillu”. The film features Prakash Raj and Ravi, who play father and son, and Genelia as the heroine. Cricketer Sadagopan Ramesh makes his debut. The music is by Devi Sri Prasad. The audio launch of the film, produced by Kalpathi S.Aghoram, took place in a unique way at the Sun Music studio.
