Celebrating embroidery
Designer Manju Jalota presents a sale of ‘Alankrit’, her range of saris, salwars, fabrics, dupattas, trousers, skirts and kurtis in organzas, chiffons, crepes, silk kotas, voiles an
d flowing cottons. The creations come with intricate embroidery, specialised dyeing techniques and subtle colour combinations. The embroidery is traditional Lucknawi chikankari (Manju’s forte) embellished with zardosi, kamdani and beadwork.
Also, choose from a combination of fabrics such as bhag, kalamkari, lehrana, vegetable dye, ikat and dabu.
The sale is on from March 31 to April 1 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Pralochna on Nanjappa Road. Call 0422-2233323 for details.
Art classes
Kasthuri Sreenivasan Trust on Avanashi Road is conducting its sixth summer classes in drawing and painting. The classes are for students in Class IV and above, and other interested individuals. The course will cover basic forms, perspective, colour theory, drawing and painting.
Classes will start in the last week of April, and will go on for 15 days.
Participants must bring their own material. The course fee ranges from Rs. 450 to Rs. 550. Those interested can call M. Kupparaj, organiser, on 0422-2574110, or meet him in person before April 20.
