Dancing divas

A real estate award show in the Capital

It was a triple treat. The event was to give away the second Annual Living Awards 2007 to the best real estate firms and consumer brands. But what stole everyone’s attention was dance presentation by three actresses from our entertainment world – Mahima Chaudary, Arti Chabria and Shweta Salve. Taking time off from their stage show, Shweta, of Sony TV’s Jhalak Dikhla Jaa fame, said, “I just need a reason to dance. I enjoy what I do.” The popular tele-actress, now all set to step into Bollywood with Dharmesh Darshan’s Bhanwara, said, “Everyone can dance. One has to recognise the inner dancer.” Shweta had some early training in Kathak and later learned Latino dance during the reality dance show. Adding to the conversation, Arti said, “Though I love dancing, I am not a regular dancer but I do a lot of stretching and cardio exercises to keep myself fit.” Having taken to the stage a couple of times, particularly during film award functions, Arti said, “Some of the Bollywood numbers I dance to frequently on stage are ‘Ladkhadaaye’ and ‘Bidi jalaile’.” Mahima Chaudhary, currently busy with her new movie, Hope and A Little Sugar directed by Tanuja Chandra, said, “Dancing is a way to keep fit. I am a vegetarian but do not follow a strict diet. I work out a lot. I love kick-boxing and my trainee guides me about all the necessary exercises.” The actress who has become a mother recently, said, “I dance for half an hour every day.”
