A feat with wheat

Here is a pizza made of atta to tickle the Indian palate

Wholesome Wheat pizza

Domino’s has launched the new ‘Sicilian wheat treat pizza’ to cater to Indian taste buds. It employs the traditional Sicilian way of making pizza, but with butter and a special herb seasoning to the wheat dough. This creates a n exotic yet familiar taste and is also good news for the health conscious.

Dev Amritesh of Domino’s Pizza India Limited, says, “In India, people have a taste association with atta. It is a taste we all like.” The pizza is available with all existing toppings and in the 10-inch medium size. It costs Rs.10 more than the regular pizza . This is the first whole wheat-base pizza by a major player in the Indian quick- service restaurant industry.

The new pizza is yet another addition to the Indian culinary palette by Domino’s in the last 18 months. Other innovations include the Cheese Burst pizza, New Fun Meal, Calzone, a Chinese range of pizzas and the Stuffed Crunch pizza. According to Amritesh, “Domino’s is looking to present four to five more innovations in the next two years and open stores in at least 15 towns this year.” With 190 stores currently in 34 cities in India, it aims to have 500 stores by 2011.
