While airport expansion is inevitable for handling the ever increasing number of aircraft, the sentiments of the residents living nearby who fear that their houses would be acquired, should also be considered. Many residents may have invested their lifetime savings in building their houses. The rear side of the airport can be considered for expansion. Then the need to disturb the Tiruchi-Pudukottai Highway or the colonies on the western side of the airport will not arise. To avoid inconvenience, the airport can be shifted anywhere in Mathur-Keeranur or Thuvakudi-Thanjavur section. Distance will not be a constraint for air passengers. Such a location will prove beneficial for residents of Tiruchi, Thanjavur and Pudukottai.
