It is indeed a matter of pride for the people of the city that Tiruchi airport is one of the non-metro airports identified for development and expansion by the AAI. With some IT companies eyeing the city in view of its central location, the airport expansion project in all likelihood will definitely be advantageous to the people. The expansion project on completion will open a window of opportunity for the young generation in IT and other sectors. But, it is a matter of concern that opposition to the proposed land acquisition for the project has resurfaced with a section of residents living near the airport protesting against the change in the plan for the project. The fear of the residents should be addressed properly.
