Throwing light on global warming

Earth song Employees of UST Global participating in ‘Earth Hour 2008’

UST Global participated in the global ‘Earth Hour 2008,’ sponsored by World Wildlife Fund, on March 27, at Bhavani, Technopark.

Through its in-house initiative PowerUS, UST Global symbolically pledged its support to the cause of increasing awareness about climate change and also take steps against global warming.

UST Global, Thiruvananthapuram centre, switched off its electricity consumption (all lights, ACs and monitors) at its Bhavani facility for 30 minutes.

During the 30-minute period, employees gathered at the atrium of the building and lit candles. All took the PowerUS oath committing them to finding climate change solutions and efficient usage of natural resources.

Earth Hour is the highlight of a major campaign to encourage businesses, communities and individuals to take the simple steps needed to cut their emissions on an ongoing basis.
