SERENE Thailand has a lot to keep the Indian tourists interested

Thailand is emerging as a new business destination. For long saddled with the image of providing cheap delights to back packers, Thailand is now aiming to add new dignity to its many charms. Plans are afoot to create a “mini India away from India”. Thailand is making travel to the country an easier and more affordable proposition for international tourists.

To showcase the country, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) launched a major road show here to provide more information to the Indian business community about the opportunities and the value of holding business events in Thailand. TCEB president Natwut Amornivate said, “We are offering a new ‘Thanks a Million’ promotional package to serve the international convention market.”

‘Thanks a Million’ offers something to business tourists. Any convention of three days and more held in Thailand until 30th September 2009 with 1000 delegates will be given one million Baht to cover local expenses. The package applies to conventions with a minimum of 100 delegates. For conventions with more or less than 1000 delegates the pro rata rate will be applied.

While Thailand is an international destination, it has special offers for Indians. Seven airlines operate between India and Thailand and tickets are fairly cheap. An increasing number of hotels serve Indian food. Visas are given to Indian citizens on arrival. With these added incentives, along with the spectacular beaches and shopping malls, Thailand is a most exciting destination.

With the resources at their disposal, Thailand’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) Industry stands ready to meet and exceed the needs of the most discerning business events.
