Full of dramatic turns From “Lora”
The Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation, in collaboration with The Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre, Embassy of the Republic of Hungary, New Delhi, organises a Hungarian Film Festival on April 18 and April 20 at the South Indian Film Chamber Theatre, 606, Anna Salai.
The festival opens with “White Palms” on April 18, 6.30 p.m. It will be followed by “Noah’s Ark” at 8 p.m. In “White Palms”,
when Miklos Dongo’s promising career as a gymnast is cut short by an injury, he arrives in Canada as a coach to rebuild his life. But will he be able to rise up to the new challenges?
“Noah’s Ark” revolves around a block of flats in Budapest (Noah’s Ark), an old man, Ede Stock who raises his grandchild all by himself, a friendship of many decades with Aurie Talas who has not stepped out of the house for 15 years, and a TV show where the country’s best grandpa can win a huge sum. On April 20, “Lora” at 3.15 p.m. and “S.O.S. Love” at 5 p.m. will be screened. “Lora” is a romantic film with dramatic turns, great music and humour.
Twenty-something Lora is going through a difficult period. So is Geri. He lives the life of a misfit, drinks a lot, plays his saxophone. Three years earlier, Lora lost her boyfriend David, a trendy restaurant owner in a motorbike accident. David’s younger brother Geri has always been attracted to Lora but stepped back for his brother’s sake. They have not seen each other since the tragedy.
Three years later, Geri and his band play at a charity concert, where he stumbles upon Lora who runs a wine-tasting session in the concert breaks. Will Geri and Lora unite? In “S.O.S. Love”, Pier is the head of a high-tech matchmaking agency, S.O.S. Love which helps its wealthy clients solve their problematic love affairs. Their market share is rising until Tomi, an upstart, approaches them. Tomi is hopelessly in love with Veronika, a lovely kindergarten teacher but even with the help of S.O.S. Love, he cannot conquer her. Peter plans to rent a castle outside the town and populate it with company staff, bringing Tomi into a ‘family’ circle. Finally, he wants to lure Veronika to the castle with an excuse. The kindergarten teacher spends a weekend of adventures with Tomi and his ‘family’. Everything goes as planned but ultimately Peter falls in love with Veronika.
