Madurai is one of the oldest cities with a rich history and heritage. It is our bounden duty and also the responsibility of the Government to preserve and rejuvenate the heritage buildings, either centuries old temples and other places of worship or other ancient properties. The Revenue and Corporation authorities should come out with a list of heritage buildings on the basis of religion, history and architecture and preserve the original structures with slight modifications, if deemed fit, in the interests of heritage and tourism.
