During ancient times, several architectural buildings and temples were built by our kings in Madurai. They are examples of our cultural interests and architectural skills. But these days heritage buildings are increasingly being neglected. If this trend continues we will lose touch with our rich history and heritage. It is time to act now and take suitable and prompt action to preserve old buildings and all that they hold inside, like the pillars and several statues inside the Meenakshi Temple, pillars of the Thirumalai Naicker Mahal, the Koodal Alagar Perumal Temple, Gandhi Museum, Puthu Mandapam, Pathuthoon (Ten Pillars in Vilakuthoon area), to name a few.
