Calling for attention

Noval is what explains Abdul Razak’s imaginative products of great use to the common man

on the alert M.Abdul Razak with his mobile informer.

How useful will it be if your mobile phone can alert you or other members of the family when someone tries to break into your establishment?

Yes, this is no figment of imagination but a reality.

Burglar alarms are a standard equipment in business establishments and so also in private homes. But the one designed by M. Abdul Razak is novel. The mobile informer gives a call to the owner on his or her mobile informing about the break-in. Mr. Abdul Razak of Bibikulam, an electrician by profession, has a passion for trying his hand in various things. His sole aim is to come up with some useful gadgets that will suit the purse of all.

Something different

“The urge to do something new and different is always there. I love to design more and new equipment that can minimise the inconvenience of common man,” he says.

About his latest invention - mobile burglar alarm informer- Mr. Razak explains that it functions with a touching switch and coil vibrator switch that can be fitted to the walls, windows and doors of a house and attached to a mobile phone which will be fixed in the home.

The mobile number that is fixed to the alarm should be a secret number and the number of people whom the burglary signal has to be sent has to be stored in the mobile phone fixed to the device.

Even an attempt by burglars to break open the house will activate the system that will in turn inform the owner of house or to the phone numbers that are stored in the mobile phone fixed in the house.

No signals

If the call finds the number in use or beyond reach, automatically the call will be diverted to other stored numbers in the sensor-mobile at home that will enable the owners to act swiftly and seek the help of police as the call is from the secret number.

The system can work both on electricity and battery and signal will not be a problem. The cost of making the mobile informer will be around Rs.500 excluding the mobile phone that is supposed to be fitted with the alarm, Mr. Razak says and notes that it is a silent alarm that will not be known to the thief.

The mobile can used as a normal phone with a different card when it is not fitted to the alarm, he says.

Other inventions

The mobile burglar alarm informer is Abdul Razak’s eighth invention. Earlier, he has designed ‘two-in-one cooking filter valve vessel,’ that can boil rice and filter the residual water besides preparing ’sambar’ or ’kuzhambu’ at the same time.

He had also designed a ‘two-in-one fan’ that brings in air from all sides with the usual oscillation. The fan, which has blades on opposite sides, works with a coil and a switch control and functions like any other table fan. Another invention is ‘Letter-caller post box’ that will beep for five seconds when a letter is dropped into it. If the letter is not picked up after the beep, a red light glows, indicating the presence of the object. Another invention is a wireless mobile charger.

He has sent his inventions for patenting. His filter-valve cooker and letter-caller have been selected for awards by the National Invention Foundation, Allahabad.

In fact, he has a handful of orders for his two-in-one-cooker. He has also received patent for his cooker and applied for his alarm informer.

Hailing from a poor family, Mr. Razak is not able to make his own products and market them though he has received a good number of orders for his products. He is in need of sponsors who can help him in a refined marketing of his items and also enable him to invest more in order to reach out to a larger market.
