The Kuttanadan buffet festival at Classic Avenue, Manjalikulam Road promise to be a culinary experience for gourmets with its spread of Kuttanadan dishes.

The restaurant has been done up to create an ethnic feel. Traditional folk songs help add to the feel. Customers are greeted with tall chilled glasses of buttermilk to beat the heat.

Start your meal with a piping hot mutton soup or pepper rasam to work up that appetite.

Once done, pick up a plate and head for the buffet counter. Start off at the chammanthi and pickle counter and choose from the delectable range of chammanthi that includes chemmen chammanthi, puli chammanthi, thenga chammanthi and choora chammanthi or pickled fish, mango and bitter gourd.

The fete offers varieties of seafood, fried, roasted, ground, curried and pickled. So you can choose from onakka meen chammanthi to njandu curry, karimeen theeyal and kanava fry. All these seafood delicacies come prepared a la Kuttanandan style with lots of freshly ground herbs and spices. Those who do not fancy seafood can choose meat dishes such as Mankombu beef, Kuttanadan Kozhi roast and Kada fry.

Vegetarians need not fret. The buffet has a special counter for them offering Kuttandan specialities such as Kadala Mappas, Vazhakoompu thoran, Karrichakka curry, Ulli Varutharachathu and Padavalainga theeyal.
