Style is no longer a casualty for women in the family way



Glam moms Mothers-to-be can also keep pace with trends

No one is going to be left behind in fashion. Not even women carrying the burden of the next generation. Gone are the days when they would cover themselves in anything they could lay their hands on. Now, there is a range of fashionable outfits available for pregnant women. They don’t need to wear oversized clothes as one can get elegant and comfortable clothes for every occasion – party wear, casual wear, office wear and even night wear

Recently, a fashion show showcasing outfits for the pregnant ladies pregnant women was held in New Delhi. All the moms to be, n It was a refreshing change from the ultra slim models usually seen on the ramp.

Aparna Jain, CEO of 9 Months said, “A lot of ladies used to come and ask me for clothes for pregnant ladies, so we decided to go ahead.”

Bigger the better

To begin with there was a ‘Biggest Belly’ competition, where all the ladies who were nine months pregnant were called on the stage and their tummies measured. There were two joint winners with a tummy of 125 cms. Expectant mothers attracted attention in their most modern and comfortable silhouettes specially designed for them.

The fabric used is a combination of Lycra, cotton and chiffon. On offer were a chiffon wrap dress which keeps the belly camouflaged with its dramatic print, blouses with big ties, off-shoulder tube tops for a glamorous look, pleated A-line skirts, two piece suits with wide pants to give extra comfort, cocktail dresses with beautiful ruffles, ruche side panel blouses allowing the expanding belly to fit in easily , turn up trousers to provide a classy look, turn up capris, blouses with box pleats and bell sleeves. Another highlight was mothers with their newborn babies in their arms walking down the ramp.
