Messengers of peace

German artistes entertained Puducherry, and drove home a message too

PEACE PAYS German graffiti
Using art, dance and music, a group of artistes from Germany has landed here to spread the message of peace. The six-member group put up a mesmerising show of hip-hop, break dance, acrobatic dance and some fascinating urban street art. Dwelling on the theme of ‘Each One, Teach One, Be One’, the team chose a fun way to spread a noble thought.
The art forms worked in unison to represent peace amidst diversity.
The show was a joint initiative of Aurodhan and the Ministry of External Affairs of Germany.
The members of the group were Anne Schmeckies, Joe, Phax Mulder, Flomega, Lastmove and Tiim-Oh. Drawing inspiration from India, the group members put up an exhibition and a display of street art. Two walls, including the garage wall at Aurodhan, sported graffiti, again on the theme of peace.
Anne Schmeckies, who brought the team to Puducherry, says: “We want to think positive and talk positive. Our aim is a one-world society.”
“It was an exchange of culture between Germany and India. And, it was very entertaining. Aurodhan has been working to raise the level of art consciousness in Puducherry, and across India. This initiative was part of that,” Aurodhan President Lalit Verma said.
