Beauty and brains Swarnamayee
Swarnamayi has moved from the centre stage to the backstage. But she isn’t the one who would give up so easily. She has now set her sights on hogging the limelight with her designs.
Sounds like a familiar name? She was crowned Ms. Vizag in 1998, Ms. Andhra in 1999 and Smt. Andhra Pradesh (by Zee Telugu) in 2006. She has given up catwalks on stage post-marriage, but continues to do ad films for various consumer brands.
Armed with a degree in fashion designing from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Hyderabad, she has forayed into fashion designing and claims her designs are already making waves among her friends.
Swarnamayi seems to have a fascination for black. “A black background goes well with dark colours,” she says.
Her women’s collection includes tops, party-wear blouses with intricate embroidery and short tops.
The tops can be worn with any bottoms like jeans and kurtas.
