Eyeing the crown Parvathy Omanakkuttan

Parvathy Omanakuttan, Miss India World 2008 for those who came in late, breaks the stereotype about beauty without brains.

The first thing that strikes you about Parvathy is her commonsense. All of 20, she belongs to a generation that grew up watching Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai take the world by storm.

So, are they her role models? “You cannot have a single person as your role model. Nobody is perfect. But you can draw certain things from people.”

Parvathy has won quite a few beauty contests before this. She won the Malayali Manka contest on Sensations, Surya TV. She was also the Navy Queen (Kochi) 2006. But, the Miss India title has been a dream come true, for this is all she wanted to be since she was a child. “I started watching the contest the year Sushmita and Aishwarya won their respective crowns. I have always wanted to be a Miss India, period,” she says.

Parvathy has just completed her degree in English Literature from Mithibai College, Mumbai. And, making long-term plans are just not part of her scheme of things. Right now, she is focussed on the Miss World contest. And, she is open to films, “but after Miss World.”

“I believe that everything just falls into place. You never know what life has in store for you. There is no point trying to focus on 10 things simultaneously” This 20-year-old seems to have it all figured out!
