A mall melange

Shoppers find a bite at Cocoa by Belgique

Snack time Find lights eats and more at Cocoa by Belgique

Sometimes context is everything. And when it comes to Cocoa by Belgique it’s just that. Located in the Saket Select City Mall, the restaurant benefits largely by its location. In a mall, shop fatigue and tired feet are a guarantee. So the resta urant is assured of people who want a rest and a bite. The diners include young students looking for a cold drink, shopping aunts bursting with bags and husbands who’ve abandoned their wives to the stores.

The menu has lighter eats like sandwiches and burgers but also more substantial lasagnes and pastas. The highlight is the all-day breakfast, which includes American favourites like hash browns and sausages. Once the liquor licence comes through, the crowd is sure to increase.

It is neatly appointed with tasteful chairs and tables. But avoid sitting at the bar as then the dustbin will be your view. The music tends to be a little loud and risks overwhelming conversations. The restaurant needs to decide whether it is a relaxed eatery or a frenzied fast food outlet. The restaurant is said to emphasise on music of the 60s and ‘70s and might start live music too.

Ice tea

The drinks are not very inspiring. Most of the juices seem packaged. The ice-tea however is good. It is a little viscous, but it packs a punch. Vodka flambéed chicken and mushroom caps are said to be hits in the starters.

The Greek salad is tasty, but is unevenly salted. It bursts with peppers and olives. Chicken pepper logon is rather good. The pepper gives the white sauce some curves. The presentation, however, could be worked on.

Cocoa by Belgique also promises to give you that shot of energy with their selection of tarts, brownies and pastries. The staff needs mention for their serve with a smile.

A meal for two will cost Rs.500 plus tax.
