What an irony that statues erected in honour of erstwhile great leaders, who laid down their lives for justice and peace, equality and fraternity, should be defiled to the detriment of the society. The statues are silent spectators to the all round degeneration. It will be better if, instead of simply erecting statues of our great visionary leaders in strategic places, we emulate their principles and qualities.
