The opening track of Nirvana’s second studio album Nevermind is what got grunge rock into mainstream music. Dubbed by many as the anthem of Generation X, this song was actually written by Kurt ‘Boddah’ Cobain for his then girlfriend Tobi Vail. The riffs on this track set the tone for 90s rock. “Smells Like Teen Spirit” has Kurt Cobain wailing his guts out.
