White ‘n bright Go for cool facials in summer

With the fury of the sun beating down mercilessly on the skin, it’s important to keep the skin hydrated and protected from the harmful effects of heat and dust in summer. Trampled to submission by the searing Ultra Violet (UV) A and B rays, the skin gets tanned and the protein in its cells breaks down to cause wrinkles. Greasy skin, open pores, prickly heat, sun tan, sun burn are some of the common problems faced in summer. This is the time you should take the hint and head to a skin specialist.

“In humid climates, there is continuous loss of water from the skin. The maximum damage is done during summer and hence special care is needed to protect the skin,” says Sumati Singh, All India Technical Trainer Head of Bioline who was here in the city to conduct a two-day workshop at Do Up Beauty Clinic. Hydrating facials are a must during summer, she recommends. Cleaning or washing the face often during summer tends to take away the natural moisture from the skin. How many times have we ignored scaly white patches on the skin or a reddish dryness, presuming that it will vanish with time? The rising mercury levels and humidity of this year’s summer have increased the problems of skin disorders. Summer is also a time when the skin requires the maximum attention and hence once a month of professional treatment is a must.

“It’s important to restore water on the skin. Aqua induction is one of the key ingredients of the hydrating facial of Bioline,” says Sumati. When it comes to removing skin tan, she suggests whitening facials that are suitable for all skin types and works wonders to remove pigmentation and skin blemishes. Whitening creams with sun blocks are also quite effective to prevent tanning. “But skin treatments should be done only after a proper skin analysis is done by the experts since every skin type has a specific requirement,” she warns. Bioline has a series of skin care treatments, especially for summer related problems, for both men and women. It has a separate line of treatment for sensitive, mixed texture and mature skins and the products are all bio-naturals.

Home care regime

While certain basic methods should be followed like applying sunscreen lotion before sun exposure, a proper home care regime is a must to prevent the skin cells from breaking down.

Following a simple and systematic method at home works best to beat the heat. Cleaning, toning and moisturizing of skin twice a day is quite beneficial to survive the onslaught of summer heat. However, just a sunscreen lotion doesn’t help to counter skin problems like tanning or drying. An after-sun lotion is a must for people who spend more hours on the field. “Even if you are swimming for an hour in the daytime, an after-sun lotion should be applied to avoid peeling of skin and to restore back the moisture levels. An after-sun removes 50 per cent of the skin damage,” she says.
